Top 10 things to do on the Foreshore

1. Hire a rowing boat from the Keswick Launch Company. How many of the islands can you row around?

2. Watch the wildlife. You can feed the ducks right on the lake shore, or stroll further along and sit somewhere quiet. You might even see a red squirrel!

3. Buy your fish and chips from the town centre, then walk down to the Foreshore and eat them overlooking one of the most spectacular views in Britain.

4. Take the Keswick Launch to explore the hidden jewels of Derwentwater and Borrowdale. The launch stops at lots of places- get off at leafy Brandelhow, walk over the Chinese bridge at Lodore or disembark at Hawes End to climb Catbells.

5. Take a short walk along the Foreshore to Friars Crag to sit and take in a truly amazing view!

6. Pack a picnic and take the family- ideal picnic spots are Crow Park and Strandshag Bay and are within 10 minutes walk of the Lakeside car park.

7. See a performance at the Theatre by the Lake- one of most beautifully located theatres in Britain.

8. Have a game of pitch-and-putt golf in the lovely Hope Park. Or for something more lighthearted, try your hand at obstacle golf!

9. Skim some stones and have a competition. How many bounces can your stone make?

10. Stroll along the Foreshore in the evening when it gets dark. Friars Crag is officially one of the best National Trust locations for stargazing! Download a National Trust star gazing walk. Keep an eye and an ear out for bats and owls.
