Keswick's Lantern Parade
Saturday 31st October 7pm - 8.30pm
Keswick Schools and families have already made over 100 Lanterns in preparation for the spectacular lantern parade on October 31st. Braithwaite, Threlkeld and St. Herbert’s School have all taken part in sessions with willow artist Phil Bradley.
For those that have still to make a lantern there’s still time as artist Ali McCaw, will be hosting a series of workshops at Keswick Museum on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October (10am – 4pm).
The Derwentwater Foreshore Project has also released more details about the plans for the parade. Those taking part in the parade should arrive at the Moot Hall at 6.30pm so that their lanterns can be lit. There will also be a few surprises along the walk from the Moot Hall down to the Derwentwater Foreshore.
Soundwave will be providing the entertainment on the foreshore with a series of musical treats. Choirs, percussion and Keswick’s musical stones will provide a spectacular end to the night.
Lantern Making Workshop at the Square Orange
For adults who want to take part in the parade there is a special one off party at the Square Orange where they get to make lanterns, too, but they do it while drinking cocktails (Friday 30th October from 9pm). Yes… there is no excuse, even for the adults, not to have their very own lantern for the parade.
The dates for the Lantern making workshops at the Keswick Museum are:
Saturdays 24th, 31st and Sunday and 25th 10am – 4pm.
if you have already made a lantern - be sure to take part in the parade - meet at the Moot Hall at 6.30pm on the 31st October.
If you have a group or organisation who would like to take part in the parade or simply require more information then contact Philip at philip@foreshoreproject.com .
